Frequently Asked Questions

When does the trial start?

Participants of the Innovation Pilot can start parking from Monday the 30th November 2015

Where do I download the App?

You can get the app at www.getspot.com.au

Who can be part of the Innovation Pilot?

Initially the trial is open to a limited number of volunteers as invited by the Department.

What phones are supported in the Innovation Pilot?

Initially only iPhones running iOS 8 or above can use the App.

Where can I park using the app?

Spot is available at the "Kidney” car park at Reed street. All volunteers should have had their access passes updated to allow access to this car park.

As the current DHS parking policy is to allow payment to be valid across other DHS sites your parking payment at Reed street will be valid across all DHS sites in Canberra you have access to for the days you have paid.

What are the parking prices?

Prices via the app are the same as via the existing ticket machines.

  1. Day rates are $2.80 inc GST
  2. Weekly (5 working days) are $14.00 inc GST

Weekly rates can be purchased on any day during the week and will expire 6 full days later plus the remainder of the current day (For example; a ticket purchased on a Wednesday will expire at 11.59pm on the following Tuesday).

There is no additional cost to use the App.

How does DHS know I have paid if there is no ticket?

When you register the App we ask for the motor vehicle registration number plate. DHS officers will look up the registration to determine if you have paid for parking. You can change your registration details each time you park if you drive different vehicles on different days.

If you purchase a weekly ticket you cannot change the registration details during the period of the booking. If you plan to drive different vehicles on different days you should pay by the day only.

Are my credit card and personal details secure?

Spot uses bank grade and industry standard encryption of your credit card details. Your card information is never stored on our servers.

Our payment gateway partner is audited by a PCI-certified auditor and is certified to PCI Service Provider Level 1. This is the most stringent level of certification available.

We ask for personal information to enable the service although we only share registration details for the purpose of determining if your parking is paid. We never share your personal details.
