Sydney-founded company Modii (formerly Spot Parking) has announced a major partnership with Athena Partners Strategy Group (APSG), a US government relations and technology consultancy, to expand Modii's smart parking and digital kerb technology across the U.S.
With offices in Sydney, Colorado, Los Angeles, Chicago and soon-to-be in Arizona, Modii has developed a data platform enabling:
“As leaders in digitized parking platforms, Modii has an unrivaled capacity to unify all parking occupancy and payment technologies in one source, optimizing a department’s ability to better manage mobility and parking assets,” said APSG Managing Partner Nick Stanton.
“Modii’s unique offerings enable a seamless digital parking platform that uniquely solves problems both for the driver and the parking asset owner.”
APSG will support Modii's fast-moving expansion with business development and strategic consulting services, including sales support, marketing support, network expansion, strategic partnerships and smart-city-bundling. APSG has built a trusted reputation in the parking, transportation, electric vehicle, sustainability and mobility industries for representing entities as they implement game-changing technology with cities, schools and airports nationwide.
“Athena is an innovator in the parking industry and sees the big picture for the future of mobility,” said Elizabeth Zealand, CEO of Modii and former Deputy Secretary of Transport of NSW.
“Cities worldwide are looking to unlock the value of the kerb for mobility, and that starts with digitization. Athena is a key partner in helping us communicate this value through their parking industry network.”
Modii received recent success in the Australian market after winning the Transport for NSW (TfNSW) TfNSW Parking Innovation Challenge to digitally map more than 15 square kilometres of kerbside in the popular Manly precinct - detailing everything from free parking, cost of hourly parking, disabled parking, resident permit areas, loading zones and more.
“Our challenge was to effectively ‘map’ a digital representation of parking and zoning rules that can be published as Open Data,” Ms Zealand said.
“Who wants to be stuck looking for a car park? This technology saves valuable time so people can spend more time enjoying the waves, the cafes and shops – it really benefits everyone visiting the Manly area,” she said.
“We are thrilled to have won this international challenge – and on home soil too.”
The aim of the Parking Innovation Challenge was to improve driver experience by taking the confusion out of interpreting parking signage and to assist drivers with their specific parking needs, while also helping reduce congestion and pollution from idling vehicles.
